Support for
community partners...
Many community
services and physicians in the Portland metropolitan area serve
low income, ethnically diverse and teen parent families, but may
not offer or be aware of their role in providing breastfeeding
support.
NMC is
seeking to partner with these organizations and individuals,
so that staff and program participants are informed of the
risks of not breastfeeding, breastfeeding basics for a good
start, planning for return to work or school, and resources
for further help.
Nursing
Mothers Counsel can offer community partners:
- IBCLC-led
training for staff, tailored to the work environment and
offered at a reduced rate;
- Free,
on-site prenatal breastfeeding classes to parents
participating in their program;
- Local
access to DHHS Office on Women's Health Breastfeeding
Awareness Campaign materials;
- NMC
brochures;
-
Breastfeeding promotional materials from the Oregon
Office on Family Health;
-
Assistance becoming a DHS-Designated Breastfeeding
Mother-Friendly Employer.
